When I paint these small artworks of just picked lemons, I always have to work quickly, almost like on location and I love it! As time goes on, the bright, green color of the leaves becomes darker, with ocher tints. A cold, greenish yellow of the lemons gets warmer and duller as well.
\nThis painting is one of my particular favorites from the series: simple, impressionistic and joyful, slightly careless, but full of light \u2013 truly spring still life painting!<\/p>\n

The artwork is painted on 1\/8\u2033 inch hardboard with two layers of Old Holland white gesso primer.
\nI use Old Holland Classic oil paints and Old Holland cold pressed bleached linseed oil to increase fluidity of oil colors.
\nWhen the thickest areas of my painting are firm I varnish artwork with Gamvar Gloss Varnish, the original Gamvar formula.<\/p>\n
